What is The Canon?
The canon of Sherlock Holmes is comprised of the 56 short stories and 4 full length novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle from 1887 - 1926. The term, "canon", is used to distinguish between the original Sherlock Holmes works of Doyle and later works by other authors utilizing the same characters.
